May 2004 - Spring Pack Campout
On May 15-16 boys from our Pack enjoyed an overnight campout hosted by Jim Turner,
assistant Den leader for Wolf Den #2. The weather looked sketchy on Saturday morning
with overcast skies and light rain, but the rain ended by afternoon and our ten campers
arrived at the Turner-Smith farm in Eastern Bartholomew county by 5:00pm. The boys
enjoyed fishing, hiking, playing "snatch the bacon" and roasting marshmallows over
the campfire. We cleaned and fried about a dozen nice bluegill and two small catfish
that the boys caught Saturday afternoon. We capped off dinner with a sampling of
deep fried Cicadas! Some brave souls discovered that they taste a little like potato chips!
